Learn Successful Training Strategies for Developing Strength, Power, & Endurance with Athletes

Melanie Byford-Young Presents Becky Rucker

Friday, December 6, 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm PST

Livestreaming on Zoom

This session will be recorded and available to all registrants for 7 days.

As a Pilates Professional, you may or may not work with athletes who participate in power or endurance sports and activities. Many Pilates instructors started out in dance or gymnastics and shy away from heavy weights and speed work. Yet, Pilates can be the perfect approach for helping improve performance, recovery from injury, or ensuring proficiency with life outside of an athlete’s sport. Each movement professional must understand the needs of an athlete, and understand the different approaches required to develop strength, power, endurance and pliability.

In this lecture, Becky will share her extensive insight into training athletes of all kinds, as well as with injury management and prevention. Becky will clarify how athletes develop strength, power, hypertrophy, acuity, and mobility. She will also discuss how therapists and coaches develop key movement assessments to determine if an athlete is ready to return to their sport or activity: this will specifically address endurance athletes, a power athlete, or a person who enjoys weight lifting at the gym.  Melanie will introduce Becky and facilitate the integration of this information to Pilates-based Movement Professionals.
